I have been in the sales industry for over 25 years, and there were a couple of things I’ve learned along the way that are very effective for success in the networking space.

- Do not connect with someone and then send a canned email; No one likes spam.

- Be smart, be funny, be memorable; at least be one of these three

- Be Interested To Be Interesting
- Don’t ask for anything until you’ve earned it

- Don’t fake it ’til you make it. You have to be HONEST
- Speak it and believe it
- Find a way to deliver your message

- Include a photograph or memorable image
- The goal is for them to keep your card long enough that they would add you on their contact list
